BRAWLER AI is a training journal for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and it is live on the App Store for iPhone.

That sentence took years of mat time and a year of building to earn. Here is what it actually means for your training.

What it is

You talk about your training. It builds the record.

After class, you open the app and say what happened, the way you would tell a training partner: who you rolled with, where the rounds lived, what worked, what kept catching you. You can speak it or type it; voice for when the details are still warm, text for when the locker room is loud. Either way, BRAWLER AI structures what you said into techniques, positions, and sparring rounds, drawn from a technique library that knows the difference between a knee cut and a knee bar.

One turn of the back and forth: an answer becomes structure and the coach asks what else happened

Nothing goes in behind your back. You review what it heard before you save. If it heard "knee on belly" as something strange, you fix it right there. Your words stay the record; the structure just makes them findable.

Who it is for

It is built for BJJ practitioners who take their training seriously and their note-taking never. The ones who can tell you their bench went up but not whether their guard retention did. The ones two years in, training three nights a week, still asking the question the first post in this series took apart: am I actually getting better? (Short version: you probably are; jiu-jitsu just hides its own scoreboard.)

If you already keep a paper journal and love it, keep it. The method matters more than the tool. This is for everyone who tried the notebook three times and stopped by Thursday.

The loop, in the app

The last three posts here laid out a method: recap your sessions, find what keeps happening, train one observable question at a time. BRAWLER AI is that loop with the friction removed.

The recap is the part you speak. The patterns are what the structured record surfaces: the same position, the same grip, the same stall point showing up across weeks, visible instead of buried in memory.

Weeks of accumulated sessions, which is where a pattern becomes visible

Then there is Weekly Focus. When your record shows something worth chasing, the app can propose one focus for the week, drawn from your own repetitions. And this matters: a proposed focus is only a proposal. Nothing becomes your focus until you accept it. You grade it honestly at the end of the week and decide what earns the next one. The thinking stays yours.

And there are Brawler Briefs: focused readouts built from the sessions you have recorded. Ask what to train next, prep for a coaching session, review a stretch of sparring, or look back at how a weekly focus went, and the Brief answers from your recorded history instead of from thin air.

What it costs to start

BRAWLER AI is a free download. There is an optional Pro subscription with a seven-day free trial that then auto-renews; you can cancel anytime. Everything above about the method costs nothing to read and nothing to steal for your notebook.

Why I built it

I am a practitioner with an engineering habit and the same broken feedback loop as everyone else on the mats. I optimized everything except my jiu-jitsu, because my jiu-jitsu was the one thing I could not see. Building a system that listens after training and keeps honest records was the most direct fix I could ship.

If the method resonates, start with the free questions from this series tonight: where did the rounds keep living, what did you try on purpose, what surprised you. And if you want the version that listens, BRAWLER AI is on the App Store for iPhone.
